Well, I figured I should dive into the Labor Day tradition and smoke some ribs today. I've done ribs numerous ways - some with a glaze, some with a rub, and some with straight BBQ sauce. Either way - it's meat, it's smoked, and it's good.
I'm going to go the somewhat simple route today and go with a basic rub then smoke for about 6 hours using apple wood chips and indirect heat - around 210.
Here's the recipe for the rub along with a photo of the ribs before I put them on the smoker.
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of sweet paprika
3 tbsps of black pepper
3 tbsps of kosher salt
2 tsps of garlic powder
1tbsp of mustard powder
1 tsp of cayenne pepper
1tsp of cumin
I'll be honest, I kind of just throw everything together that I have in the pantry.
